Cult hit miniseries Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog is a tragicomedy with an amazing cast. It will be shown on TV for the first time in America, this year.
The award-winning miniseries sees Dr. Horrible (Neil Patrick Harris) determined to be a successful villain, recording his struggles in a video blog. He’s quashed at every turn by his dim-witted nemesis Captain Hammer (Nathan Fillion) while Penny (Felicia Day) is caught between the two in a love triangle.
Joss Whedon created the tragicomedy with his wife and two brothers during the 2007-2008 Writers Guild of America strike. It was originally made for the web but will be shown on The CW later this season.
Acclaimed The Avengers director, Joss Whedon was celebrated this year by fans at Comic-Con. A seminal moment of this year’s event was the fan-support shown to the cast of his cult TV series Firefly on the ten year anniversary of the show. He also spoke about sequels to Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog.
“We’re going to do three prequels, but they’re going to suck” Whedon joked (via Newsarama.com). “We’ve been working on it for about two years. We have a bunch of songs, we know exactly where we’re going. I can’t wait to tell you more about it … That’s gonna start happening hopefully soon … some of the actors in it are kind of successful!”
After the amazing cast of the original miniseries, this insight is very exciting and there will be a lot of speculation before more information is released. Whedon‘s history of being close to his cast and crew, like Nathan Fillion who also starred in Firefly and fans (me) will be hoping for stars of his previous TV hits and films. Personally I cannot wait!
To see Nathan Fillion in another comedy, as a superhero look no further than our Video: The Daly Show post.
Who would you like to star in the prequels? Will they be heroes or villains? Let me know.
