The series manages to mix humour and horror, often parodying other hit TV shows and films. Our favourites include making fun of CSI Miami with Horatio Caine’s quippy one liners and the latest crowd-pleasing teen vampire flicks.
Now in its seventh series Supernaural follows the Winchester brothers who hunt what goes bump in the night, not to mention they are pretty easy on the eyes (understatement). The beautiful characters, self-aware dialogue and constant battles of the brothers Winchester make you both envious and sympathetic of their lives.
The anti-hero Dean Winchester (Jensen Ackles) makes alcoholism and promiscuity acceptable as part of his harrowing lifestyle. While his conflicted brother Sam Winchester (Jared Padalecki) struggles with his destiny as a tortured man constantly drawn into the darkness. The duo overcome their torturous lives in their own way and unite in battling to save humanity from the invisible threat of supernatural entities.
Insightful Waffle is equally happy that Community won Favourite Comedy and Favourite Ensemble from the TV Guide Awards. Favourite Actress went to the cute and quirky Zooey Deschanel for her role in female-fronted comedy series New Girl.
While our lovable duo in Castle and their on screen will they, won’t they couple Castle (Nathan Fillion) and Beckett (Stana Katic) won the award for Favorite Couple. Though the two have never got together in the show, Nathan Fillion hinted that they’ll be giving the people what they want in the latest series saying “In the Castle and Beckett, we’ve seen ebb and flow. We’re going to see a lot more flow in the end of Season 4.”

American TV shows are usually a good indicator of what will be popular in the UK and if downloading or Twitter trends are any indication the cross-over is only getting stronger. We advise you get to know these shows if you haven’t already, if only to get a head start on water cooler talk.
