A surprisingly raucous crowd assembled for a Monday night (28th February) gig at Camden’s Koko. The support act B. Dolan began the evening and joined Scroobius Pip for his headline slot, making for a beardy-licious night.

Koko saw the poetical rapper Scroobius Pip playing tracks from his solo album Distraction Pieces which was released last September. I included this album as one of my favourite from the year in Insight into 2011 albums.

A highlight of Pip‘s set was the powerful and evocative ‘Death of the Journalist’, which was produced on his album by Zane Lowe. Though his song ‘Broken Promise’ deeply resonated with the audience.

Scroobius Pip is known for his collaboration with Dan Le Sac and we look forward to their next album together, rumoured to be released later this year.
