Facebook is launching a new service called ‘Listen With Friends‘ with Spotify and Rdio. If you and your Facebook friend both have access to the same programme you will be able to listen to the same tracks as your friends, at the same time.

The idea is that you can then discuss the music you are both listening to, while you listen. You’ll see a musical note next to your friends name like below and you can then click ‘Listen with … ‘.

Most people share Youtube videos to share music on Facebook, which doesn’t allow for real-time music sharing. It is pretty obvious that this will increase Spotify users and keep people on both platforms longer.

It’s unlikely that this will be an important chat tool because the added ‘Video Call‘ option didn’t seem to take off a great deal with alternatives available on other platforms like Skype but what do you think? Would you use this new service? Do you currently use Spotify?
